How to unlock G12 crafting

Hi everyone,

In the last days we've been discussing with enemy and arcangel how to change the way to unlock g12 crafting for next season(s?).

Unlocking G12 Crafting can be easy for some of us (we did it under 24h just like some other tribes), but it can get really hard if u're solo, casual or totally new player.

Some won't even play the season because they can't unlock the G12 therefore they can only play on 160 or 200 bracket which are mostly empty.

There are quite a few problems with having to reach 100/100/100 to unlock G12 craft :

  • It's not teaching you how to actually craft g12.
  • It's very boring (very).
  • It ends up with 1 crafter per tribe which can be very tricky.

Our suggestion is to create a long quest that would at the end reward the player with the ability to craft G12.

Here are the steps we imagined (everything can be changed, the values can be changed etc...), the quest starts at level 201 :

  • Go talk to Jakar in Ladianes Village.
  • Go talk to Jakar in East Ladianes.
  • Go talk to Material trader NPC in Ladianes Village.
  • Go talk to G12 crafter NPC in West windmill Village.

That (with some  text of course) would bring the player to every NPC he can use for the G12 process.

Then the player would need to bring quantities of every kind of mats to NPCs and actually learn how to refine :

  • Bring 100k (10 stacks) of Gemstone to NPC Jakar.
  • Bring 100k (10 stacks) of Rawhide to NPC Jakar.
  • Bring 100k (10 stacks) of Herbs to NPC Jakar.
  • Bring 100k (10 stacks) of Metal to NPC Jakar.
  • Bring 100k (10 stacks) of Wood to NPC Jakar.

Now that the player is aware of the different raw mats that exist, he can start refining : (We are taking the example of a redmage, all kind of mats need to be adapted to the class)

  • Refine 10k Ware Gem with NPC Jakar
  • Refine 10k Star Gem with NPC Jakar
  • Refine 10k Strap with NPC Jakar.

After this last step, the player unlocks the ability to refine g12 mats (seph cloth into fire cloth for instance).

Next steps are designed in order to give to the player a complete g12 set of his class but also teach him exactly how to craft them.

  • Bring all the refined mats to NPC G12 Crafter for an Ablaze Vambrace.
  • Bring all the refined mats to NPC G12 Crafter for an Ablaze Vambrace.
  • Bring all the refined mats to NPC G12 Crafter for an Ablaze Helmet.
  • Bring all the refined mats to NPC G12 Crafter for an Ablaze Boots.
  • Bring all the refined mats to NPC G12 Crafter for an Ablaze Garment.
  • Bring all the refined mats to NPC G12 Crafter for an Ablaze Staff.

Now the quest ended and the player can start crafting G12 items for his own class.

We truly believe current G12 process can be a serious wall for solo and casual players. This quest would be in a way more interactive and actually teach people how to craft G12.

All values listed can be modified, it was just to present the concept of unlocking G12 by finishing a quest.

Thanks for reading, comment and tell us what you think of this quest.

Pure

Yeah this seems like a much better system than the current boring material grind.

To me the current system just doesn't make any sense at all.

Makes a lot more sense to introduce an achievable solo quest line instead, allowing everyone access to G12 production, and actually teach people how to craft items.

Good thread, with good suggestions.

Kratos

It'd be nice to remove it completely. It's getting a lot of game play. Making the same thing every time makes it boring. It can be made easier

His name is Ohamma ;p

I like this CONCEPT... I especially like how you used quests for the idea...

I don't want to change your presentation, but i do want to address a couple points.

1) A sizable amount of players wish they could at least refine g12 mats.

2) a quest of this magnitude should replace a 24 man-hour grind with something difficult... Not tedious imo. Like rooftop hop at level 1...

3) right now 100 reforging is refered to as "part 2 of the biggest grind in tb"

If the quest were to replace that, 100/100/100 (24 man-hour grind) is only to unlock a 1% upgrade boost?

Making reforging 100% out of the question for the players this suggestion is tailored for.

All in all, nice concept! Good thinking out of the box!
